5 Fun Facts About Google

Your Best Web Friend

It's not really a matter of how often you use Google, but it's about how many times you use it a day. As most people's number one source of getting information quickly, Google is a part of everyone's daily life. But even if you're using it incredibly often, do you really know anything about the company? If your answer's no, you've come to the right place. Here are five fun and interesting facts about Google.

1. Billions Of Daily Searches

As the world's number one web searcher, have you ever wondered how many Google searches are being entered every single day? If you guessed anywhere in the millions, you're nowhere close. Said to be upwards of 8.5 billion daily, it's incredible that this site is able to handle so much!

2. It Had A Different Name

Can you imagine Google being named anything else? You probably didn't know it was very close to being called something else in the early stages! Originally planned to be "BackRub," we're just glad the company came up with something catchier and a little less bizarre.

3. Google Is A Math Term

You may have always thought that Google was just a funny word with no meaning, but it's actually an expression used in mathematics. Though spelled slightly differently, "googol" essentially is a one followed by 100 zeros after it.

4. Google Had An Interesting Motto

Though the sentiment was in the right place, with the company attempting to promote using their web search for good, it's a little strange hearing that Google's motto used to be "Don't be evil." We can definitely credit them with being clear and to the point though.

5. Global Appeal

With an amazing 149 languages available to choose from, there's no questioning Google as a global brand. While some countries are banned from using it, Google's attempt to be inclusive and offer options for everyone around the world is very cool to see.
