5 Ways To Make The Best Use Out Of Your iPhone

Simple iPhone Hacks

Sure, your iPhone is a great everyday device for keeping in touch with friends and family, scrolling through social media, and taking stunning photos. But are you really using it to its full potential? From identifying wild plants to extending your battery life, there’s a lot more your smartphone can do than you might realize. Here are five ways to make the best use of your iPhone.

1. Snag Text from Photos

Instead of copying text from something word-for-word, simply take a photo of it to extract it there. All you need to do is click the shot, then press and hold your finger over the text you want to grab. Your iPhone will automatically snag the words you need, which you can then copy and paste to where you want.

2. Identify Plants & Insects By Taking a Picture

Wondering what type of flower you just passed by? Or what bug is crawling on your picnic blanket? With iPhone's Visual Look Up feature, taking a photo can reveal that information, too! Simply click a shot of the plant or insect, then tap on it in your photo gallery. Tapping the "i" (information) icon at the bottom will give you the details.

3. Double-Tap to Screenshot

If you aren't already taking advantage of the Back Tap feature on your iPhone, you're missing out. By assigning an action to be triggered (such as taking a screenshot or calling Siri), you can simply double or triple-tap the back of your device to invoke the action you set.

4. Make Use of Shortcuts

Shortcuts is an app that lets you create all kinds of customized actions, tasks, and automations for your iPhone. For example, to save battery, you can have it automatically switch on Low Power mode when it drops below a certain percentage, or remind you to unplug your device when the battery hits 80%.

5. Change the Charge Limit

Following up on the previous point about battery, you can also change the charge limit on your iPhone to extend your device's battery life. Simply head to Battery in Settings, and under Charging you'll have the option to set the limit from 80-100%. Once you do so, your iPhone will charge to around that number and hover there until you unplug.
