When Teamwork Gets Too Harsh
Date night sounds charming at first glance. It’s all snacks, cozy lighting, and a co-op game you can enjoy together...right? Well, unfortunately, some games don’t exactly encourage romance. If you’re hoping for laughter instead of icy silence, you may want to save these titles for another evening!
1. Overcooked! 2
Nothing says a romantic evening quite like screaming about chopped onions—all while a kitchen catches fire. Overcooked! 2 is colorful, funny, and genuinely clever, but it can turn a reasonable couple into exhausted restaurant managers within minutes.
2. Keep Talking and Nobody Explodes
This game’s title already brings the heat, so you should know what to expect! The thing is, it sounds like a trust exercise until someone starts misreading defusal instructions. It’s hilarious in theory, but it might make you question whether either of you knows how to describe a button.
3. Cuphead
Cuphead looks adorable, and it’s hard not to get swindled by the retro style. However, that’s exactly how it tricks you. Beneath the jazzy soundtrack and vintage cartoon style is a brutal test of patience, timing, and emotional resilience. Playing it together can feel less like bonding and more like losing to a smiling flower.
4. Portal 2
Portal 2 is brilliant. It’s witty, and it’s one of the finest co-op puzzle games around. But it’s also evil. Once portals, lasers, cubes, and momentum enter the conversation, even gentle suggestions can sound like criticism. Honestly, it’s best enjoyed when both people are ready to be calmly confused.
5. It Takes Two
Don’t let the name fool you. Despite its romantic-adventure reputation, It Takes Two centers on a struggling relationship, which can make the room feel oddly reflective between boss fights. It’s wonderful with the right partner, but maybe not while you’re still learning about them.
