Some arcade games are instantly familiar, but there are a few enjoyable ones from the past that take a moment or two to remember. Today, let's rack through that ol' brain of yours to revisit five iconic arcade games that aren't the most popular, but definitely deserve some recognition.

1. Kangaroo

Released in the early 1980s, Kangaroo was an exciting arcade game where players controlled a boxing-gloved kangaroo trying to rescue her joey. It combined the best of platforming, climbing, and enemy avoidance in a fun but challenging format. 

2. Zoo Keeper

We're guessing you already have an idea of what this beloved arcade game entailed. In Zoo Keeper, players were tasked with running around the edge of a zoo enclosure to rebuild barriers before the animals escaped. Its fast pace and colorful design made it easy to understand and surprisingly difficult to master.

3. Pepper II

Pepper II featured maze-based gameplay where players filled in sections of the screen while avoiding enemies. It's a bit different from many of the other popular arcade games, which made it a refreshing addition.

4. Mappy

In Mappy, players were given control of a police mouse tasked with collecting stolen goods. Yes, the premise is strange, but the game created endless amounts of fun! The trampoline movement gave the game a playful feel and helped it stand apart from other platformers.

5. Roc’n Rope

With a title as fun as this, this arcade game ensured entertainment every session. Roc’n Rope sent players upward through prehistoric-themed stages using a grappling tool to climb and avoid enemies. Its movement system required timing, patience, and a little determination.
